Focus on your successes and don't dwell on your mistakes or failures. Replace negative
feelings with positive ones. Use positive self-talk on a daily basis. Let yourself know when you're proud of
something you've done. It's OK to feel good about yourself.
The difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is not just their ability
or knowledge, but the image they have of themselves. Successful men believe in themselves. They have a deep sense
of self-worth and a good self-image. Self-image is the concept of who and what you are.
ALL YOU CAN DO IS YOUR BEST
Part of building your self-image is setting goals. Whether your goals have to do with
losing weight, getting a promotion or learning a new skill, attainable goals are essential. Remember, you can only
do your best. Set aside time for evaluation and fine-tuning of your goals.
SEEK SUPPORT
Do you have friends that make you feel good about yourself? Make an effort to spend time
with people who value you. Stick with people who have positive attitudes and enjoy life. You may also find it
helpful to talk with a counselor or therapist.
RECOGNISE YOUR WORTH
Recognition of accomplishments must begin within. Try this exercise. Make a list of 50
things you have accomplished in your life. Take your entire life into account. You will be surprised at how many
things, small and large, that you can add to the list. You will find that despite past mistakes or problems, you
deserve a pat on the back for the good that you have done.
BE KIND TO YOURSELF
No matter what people say to us, the things we say to ourselves are much worse and do far
more damage.
